The ministry of Works and Transport in conjunction with the Uganda National Roads Authority has released the guidelines for the appropriate use of the Kampala Entebbe express highway toll road.
Following the accomplishment and launching of the Kampala Entebbe express high way in June 2018, the express high way has been in use for free.
However, the Kampala Entebbe express highway has today been gazetted as a toll road and fees have been incurred for the road users which fees include the 18%VAT tax which is all to be paid in Uganda shillings as per the document released.
Authorized users were classified and charged as follows;
Class one that is motorcycles>400cc will pay Ugshs 3000, class two that is the light vehicles with 2Axles will pay Ugshs 5000, class three that is light vehicles with 3 axles or more, medium goods vehicles with 2 or 3 axles will pay Ugshs 10,000.
Whereas class four that is large goods vehicles and large buses with 4 and 5 axles will pay Ugshs 15000,large vehicles with six and more axles will pay Ugshs18000.
The ministry has also offered the restrictions to be followed when using the highway. U-turns , reverse, parking or stopping in places other than in emergencies is prohibited. Pedestrians, bicycles, motorbikes and animals are prohibited from using the Kampala Entebbe express way.
Discounts for frequent weekly and monthly users are guaranteed as weekly users will be offered a 50%discount on the toll fees with 10 trips valid for seven days and monthly users will be offered a 70% discount on the toll fees with 60 trips valid for thirty days.
